This week’s Podcast Luís Represas is a Portuguese singer-songwriter. In 1976 he founded the band Trovante, together with João Gil, João Nuno Represas, Manuel Faria and Artur Costa, a group that would prove to be one of the most influential of Portuguese popular music. In 1992 Luis Represas begins his solo career.He takes refuge in Havana to compose songs, and start a friendship with the Cuban Pablo Milanés (biggest name of Cuban music), that collaborated with him in several albums, amongst other great musicians. In 2008 she sold it and moved to Brazil to learn Permaculture and live in Intentional Communities across the country. In 2012 she found Cortes Island and started to spend her Summers there, while continuing to spend her winters in Brazil. In 2016 she left Brazil for good and replaced it for Mexico - La Manzanilla, in Jalisco state. In 2019 she finally achieved her Permanent Residency in Canada. She also moved to Quadra island, but continues to stay connected with the Cortes community, and maintain her volunteer work...

Bonga is a folk and semba singer and songwriter from Angola. He begun his singing career at the age of 15. From 1972 on he dedicated solely to his music, and immediately became famous in his native Angola, as well as in Portugal. After the Carnation Revolution in April 1974, he would become a hit both with immigrants from the ex-Portuguese colonies, and Portuguese of both African and European descent. He has released over 30 albums, singing in Portuguese and traditional Angolan languages. His tracks are a mixture of Portuguese folk sounds, semba, kizomba and latin elements. She is one of the most popular and best-selling Brazilian female singers, with six albums released with Banda Eva, and seven more albums in a solo career. Aside from his music, he is known for always wearing sunglasses in public.
