Noba Anderson is re-elected Director of Strathcona regional District B (Cortes Island) by a margin of 72 votes. The final count was:

  • (Incumbent since 2008) NOBA ANDERSON - 353 - (55.7%)
  • (Director 1996 - 2005) GEORGE SIRK - 281 - (44.3%)

We have yet to hear from George Sirk, but Director Anderson says:

“Great gratitude to everyone who participated in this election process and all of you who voted. Thanks to George for your continued willingness to serve this community, I trust you will find a good way of doing that. And such gratitude to my core election team who have just provided unwavering and real positive support to me in the last weeks. It has been a real treat to work with you. I really look forward to continuing to have the honour of representing this island at the regional district board, but even more importantly to continue the good work on many island projects that I think are of real great importance to this community. So thank-you to everybody and here’s to another four years.”

Residents of Area B were also asked two referendum questions, both of which passed:

Brenda Leigh has been reelected Director in Electoral Area D (Oyster Bay-Buttle Lake):

There was only one candidate in the following ridings:

  • GERALD WHALLEY, Acclaimed  as Director of Area A, which stretches from the northern boundary of the City of Campbell River to just north of the Village of Sayward, and West to 
  • JIM ABRAM returns as Director of Electoral District C, which includes Quadra Island, Read Island, Redonda Island, Port Neville, Refuge Cove, Hardwick Island, East & West Thurlow Islands & Mainland Inlets

MAYOR ANDY ADAMS: Acclaimed in Campbell River

The following councillors were elected:

  • MICHELE BABCHUK - 4,245 - 65.1% - Incumbent
  • CHARLES CORNFIELD- 4,030 - 61.8% - Incumbent
  • RON KERR - 3,869 - 59.3% - Incumbent
  • CLAIRE MOGLOVE - 3,596 - 55.1% - Served prior to 2014
  • COLLEEN EVANS - 3,582 - 54.9% - Incumbent
  • KERMIT DAHL - 3,478 - 53.3%

“It looks like a great team. To have Michele and Charlie and Ron and Colleen back on brings some continuity, Claire brings back some experience and Kermit brings some fresh eyes and a new perspective – and another business perspective,” Mayor Adams told the Campbell River Mirror.

The following candidates were not elected:

  • MARLENE WRIGHT - 3,394 - 52% - Incumbent
  • ALLAN BUXTON - 1,562 - 23.9%
  • DANIEL FRANKLIN - 1,471 - 22.6%
